DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants. DRC Ethiopia began operations in 2009 and has been responding to the needs of refugees, IDPs, and vulnerable host communities ever since.OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:DRC is recruiting for a qualified HR Officer who will execute their responsibility as an HR generalist, providing support to the Field office and country office. The position holder is responsible for efficiently supporting the program per existing DRC Policies and Procedures. She/he will handle & facilitate the day-to-day HR admin processes at Addis level and assist with onboarding employees, update ERP system/Dynamics with HR data (leave management, time sheet, contract of employment extension), and address staff concerns. The incumbent will also manage the payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate salary payment and administering employee benefits while ensuring compliance with legal requirements and maintaining accurate employee records.Key Responsibilities:Onboarding:Assist the team in organizing orientation for staff hired through Addis and ensure they receive proper orientation before starting work.Provide HR orientation on the assigned field offices in consultation with the Line Manager on both HR Manual and systems.Ensure objectives are set for newly hired staff (band H and below) in the first week of their recruitment for their probation period.Follow up with hiring managers to ensure all newly hired staff are evaluated for their probation period one week in advance of its end.Work on Systems:Ensure all staff are hired/terminated in DRC Dynamics as necessary for Addis Ababa.Complete checklists on Dynamics for all new staff and fill User Manuals for HR processes.Update checklists, create Annual Staff Calendars, and different formats on DRC Dynamics as required.Hire staff in Dynamics: assign leave, benefits, compensation, timesheet, financial dimension, and create employee as a vendor.Update any changes in staff status (Transfer, promotion, extension, and termination) in DRC ERP System for assigned field offices.Process Payroll as required and requested by the HR and Administration Manager.Record and update salaries and allowances, transfers, promotions, completion of probation, and termination of service on personnel files and DRC Dynamics.Contract Management:Work with Managers to ensure contracts are extended on time (one month before expiration) and perform extensions in DRC Dynamics.Draft contract extensions/amendments, position changes, acting assignments, transfers, and promotions for approval with the assigned field offices.Other:Provide HR input on compiling quarterly HR reports.Maintain proper HR filing for employees.In the absence of the Admin/Receptionist officer, stand in for all travel arrangements, visa, and accommodation for guests.Actively participate in different task forces as assigned by the HR and Admin Manager.Any other duties as directed by the HR and Admin Manager.DRC’s core competencies:Striving for excellence: You focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.Collaborating: You involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.Taking the lead: You take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.Communicating: You listen and speak effectively and honestly.Demonstrating integrity: You act in line with our vision and values.Experience and technical competencies:3 years’ experience for Diploma or 2 years’ experience for BA holders.High integrity, pro-active, stable, robust character, and a good team player.Excellent communication skills.Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.Experience in working in NGOs.Proven commitment to accountability practices.Knowledge of computers: word processing, database management packages.EDUCATION:Diploma or BA in Human Resource Management or other relevant fields.LANGUAGE:Fluent in written and spoken English and Amharic.TO APPLY:Interested candidates who meet the required qualifications and experience are invited to submit an updated CV and cover letter explaining their motivation and suitability for the post.We only accept applications sent via our online application form.Please forward the application and CV, in English through the stated website no later than January 31, 2025.We strongly encourage female candidates to apply for the position!Gender Equality: DRC is committed to achieving gender parity in staffing at all levels.
