VDI Australia group of companies have been the sole national distributor for Yutong buses since 2018, specialising in the retail and service of Yutong buses and luxury coaches to a wide range of businesses and industries across Australia. Despite rapid growth during this time, we remain an Australian owned and family operated company with branches now located in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Cairns.
Due to this continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Service Manager. Based in our Perth branch in Belmont and reporting to the General Manager, this is an integral role that will lead and develop our Service, Warranty and Workshop team. The role will be responsible for overseeing our Perth-based workshop, direct management of our team of technicians and support staff, and close working relationships with our service and warranty coordinators and parts manager. Additionally, this role provides a vital service to all our existing and future customers.
Some of the responsibilities will be:
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the heavy vehicle service department, ensuring timely and high-quality maintenance and repair services.
* Oversee the scheduling of service appointments, allocation of resources, and coordination of workflow to maximise productivity and minimize downtime.
* Implement and enforce safe systems of work and quality standards to ensure a safe working environment and excellent service delivery, proactively participating in hazard and risk management processes, including risk and hazard assessments, audits, and implementation of control measures.
* Oversee workshop, warranty claims processing, customer support, and resolution of aftersales issues.
* Implement the National Services Manager’s strategies to improve customer satisfaction, retention, and loyalty through proactive aftersales support and effective warranty management.
* Implement the National Parts Manager’s strategies to improve parts holding and inventory management systems.
* Liaise with and support the warranty and parts departments.
* Work closely with the Service Coordinator who assists with all aspects of the service department.
* Manage inventory levels, procurement, and distribution of parts to support service and manufacturing operations.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
* Assist with the recruitment process by vetting candidates and providing feedback on their status in the recruitment process, including shortlisting, interviewing, onboarding, and site inductions of new employees.
The successful candidate will possess:
* Heavy Vehicle Mechanic qualification with over 5 years' experience.
* Diploma or tertiary qualification in operations management, supply chain management, or industrial engineering.
* Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the automotive or heavy vehicle servicing/manufacturing industries.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve performance goals and objectives.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in inventory management, production planning, and quality management systems.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Heavy Vehicle Workshop Management experience necessary.
* MR licence.
Desirable but not essential:
* HVRAS (Heavy Vehicle Registration Assessment Scheme) Qualified desirable.
