Head of School Canberra and Online Campus
The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is Australia's most awarded 3D animation, game design, and visual FX educator. Created as a non-profit organisation to grow the creative digital sector, AIE pioneered the development of specialist game qualifications and continues to innovate through industry partnerships and dynamic teaching. AIE courses are practical, career-focused and delivered by industry experienced trainers in a seriously fun and creatively demanding studio environment.
AIE Canberra and Online Campus is looking for a Head of School. This is a dynamic role which contributes to the development and growth of our campus as an educational centre of excellence for games and film. This position works collaboratively with the CEO/COO, as a member of the management team.
Position Responsibilities
* Oversee daily operations of the Canberra campus and geographically dispersed online campus to ensure they run efficiently.
* Ensure high quality curriculum delivery, student progress monitoring and maximise student retention and completions.
* Ensure that all RTO operations meet the Australian Quality Training Framework Standards for Registered Training Organisations and the Territory Obligations (ARC).
* Oversight of degree delivery at the Canberra campus and ensure that TEQSA standards and reporting obligations are met.
* Ensure that obligations for overseas students are met (CRICOS and ESOS).
* Ensure that students have a positive and enjoyable experience while studying at the AIE.
* Maintain a vibrant team culture for campus staff.
* Oversee the recruitment, management and development needs of campus staff.
* Liaise with department heads to facilitate student recruitment, resource access, fee payments and qualification issuing for each course associated with the campus.
* Develop effective relationships with stakeholders including schools, industry, associations, and government.
* Organise industry talks for AIE students and liaise with the Academic Director to facilitate the delivery of Master Classes and workshops for Alumni, Industry and current students when there is the opportunity to do so.
* Facilitate funded programs, within AIE’s course approval processes, to increase pathways to AIE courses and from AIE courses.
* Facilitate the regular submission of student work to relevant competitions, particularly GCAP and GCD (USA).
* Assist with creating, maintaining, and improving policies and procedures.
* Contribute towards reviews of national delivery and growth of AIE.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:
* Master or Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline areas and at least 6 years relevant experience in a post secondary educational environment.
* TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or its equivalent).
* Experience in leadership and management.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively as part of a fast paced team.
* Sound understanding of relevant compliance standards.
* Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Initiative and ability to learn.
* Commitment to quality assurance.
* Passion for the creative industries.
* Familiarity with the quality and standards agencies TEQSA and ASQA.
* Prior experience within a public and/or private RTO.
* Proficiency in using software including Student Management Systems (experience with aXcelerate an advantage), Learning Management Systems (experience with Canvas an advantage), Office365.
* Working understanding of VET Student Loans.
* Experience and understanding of student pathways from Certificate levels through to Advance Diploma and Higher Education programs.
* Interest in games, animation, film and/or visual effects.

This is a full-time position with a 5-month probationary period. Salary is negotiable based on skills and experience.
