Senior Scientific Software Engineer (f/m/d)
We are looking for a Senior Scientific Software Engineer (f/m/d) in Bergheim to join our team. This key role involves designing, developing, and optimizing a mechanical simulation application and its tools and APIs.
This application plays a crucial role in helping R&D mechanical engineers perform complex calculations to ensure the safety and reliability of cranes and access platforms. It also acts as a central data hub, providing integrated APIs to internal teams like engineering and external customers, ensuring seamless data flow and a consistent user experience.
Your Responsibilities
* Design and develop advanced program features for our C#/.NET application in collaboration with mechanical engineers and software developers.
* Research, conceptualize, and implement optimal calculation algorithms for complex numerical problems in structural and mechanical engineering.
* Lead large-scale efforts for refactoring to improve modularity, performance, robustness, scalability, maintainability, and extensibility of our solutions.
* Closely collaborate with other software teams to manage dependencies and ensure seamless integration across projects.
* Contribute to a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and skill development within an agile environment.
Your Qualifications
* Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Computational Mechanics, or a related field, with a strong foundation in mechanical or structural engineering principles. Alternatively, an advanced degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering with extensive experience in software development is also considered.
* Proven track record of designing, developing, and optimizing scientific or engineering applications.
* Several years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing complex .NET applications; familiarity with scientific tools such as Matlab/Simulink, Ansys, RSTAB, or Nodya is a plus.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills to engage effectively with engineers, managers, and external partners.
* Fluent English skills; German skills are an advantage.

Our Benefits at a Glance
A minimum yearly gross salary according to Austrian metal industry collective agreement is EUR 52,197.04 based on full-time employment. According to experience and qualification, we offer a market-conform overpayment.
