You know what a Safety & Risk Specialist does. But what makes this role different?
* Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary Risk team and a diverse workforce comprising geographically dispersed permanent and contract personnel.
* Lead Risk Management (RM) assessments using RM tools and processes or introduction of industry best practices.
* Facilitate the development of risk control plans across the range of hazards and risks, in collaboration with SMEs (safety and trade specialists).
* Support safety investigations as required from time to time.
* Draft or update policy, training material and guidance in relation to Safety Management Systems (SMS) and RM.
* Draft or provide input to strategic level reports for senior leadership.
* Use project management skills to deliver long-term safety projects, especially in relation to SMS and/or RM.
You’ll know by now if this role is suitable for you. But just in case you need help understanding your suitability, here are some of the criteria we will be using.
* Formal qualifications in safety management and risk management.
* Min. 5 years experience in similar SMS and RM roles within large, complex organisations.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of contemporary SMS and RM practices in accordance with recognised industry standards and regulations (eg. ISO, ICAO, CAA, WHS Act and Regulations) within a large and/or complex organisation.
* Experience in developing and implementing systems, programs and tools within a contemporary SMS.
* Practical understanding and application of SMS and RM policies, standards and guidance.
* A demonstrated ability to deliver successful outcomes in ambiguous or complex situations or environments.
* A demonstrated ability to work on short notice demands or critical timelines.
* Safety investigation knowledge and experience.
* Ready and available to start in March 2025 (2 year contract on offer with the opportunity to extend for an additional 12 months).
* Able to travel on occasion both intrastate and intrastate.
* Able to work safely from home and at the client site based in Amberley, Qld (hybrid model).
* Currently hold or ability to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.

Note that we will consider either permanent or PAYG contract engagement types for this role. Sorry, no ABN contractors.
