**Early-Stage Researcher - PhD Student (m/f/d)**
The University for Continuing Education Krems is seeking an Early-Stage Researcher - PhD Student to strengthen its team of the Health Sciences, Medicine and Research Department at the Faculty of Health and Medicine. This part-time position involves working 30 hours per week and is initially limited to 31st March 2028.
The project focuses on creating sustainable solutions for osteochondral defects by advancing the field of cartilage repair. The researcher will fabricate and analyze biphasic constructs using techniques such as 3D printing and casting, and characterize biomaterials through histology and electron microscopy. They will also design and conduct experiments using a developed bioreactor, publish research findings in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, and present results at national and international conferences.
To be successful in this role, applicants should have a completed university degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field, and proficiency in basic cell culture and analytical methods. Excellent English language skills are essential, while experience in tissue engineering and statistical analysis techniques are desirable. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team are also required.
This position is shared between two institutions, with 20 hours assigned to the University for Continuing Education Krems and 10 hours to AC2T research GmbH - Austrian Excellence Center for Tribology.
