Swimming Western Australia (SWA) is the peak body for competitive swimming in Western Australia with its head office based at Sport HQ in Floreat. Its key stakeholders are Western Australian swimming associations and Clubs, the Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (SCTA), Swimming Australia and other State Swimming Associations.SWA currently has over 80 clubs and over 11,000 registered members Statewide. Its members include swimmers, officials, administrators, volunteers and parents of athletes. SWA is responsible for the management and development of the sport from the State team at elite level through to “grass roots” community level participation.The Association is structured across the operational areas of Participation, Engagement, Performance and Sustainability.Primary Job PurposeLead the Competitions and Events department to deliver on SWA Strategic initiatives. This position demands leadership and support to ensure the delivery of all Swimming WA’s Pool and Open Water Swimming events.A primary outcome of the position is to work with Swimming Clubs, Coaches, volunteers and Regions to deliver established SWA strategic initiatives. The position will oversee SWA pool competitions and the SWA Open Water Swim Series to ensure the highest standard of event delivery is achieved and that the events are engaging for participants and spectators and show innovation in their delivery.A close working relationship with affiliated bodies and other relevant stakeholders will be essential to the successful achievement of this position’s objectives.Core ResponsibilitiesLead the Competitions Department and ensure that key objectives of SWA Strategic Plan are met.Direct the Events Team to ensure the high standard of events for all pool and OWS events.Manage and report on Key Objectives to the SWA Board.Key Duties:Manage relationships with external stakeholders to ensure quality outcomes are achieved for the sport.Implement the logistics and strategic direction of seasonal competition for pool planning and open water swimming.Manage pool competition calendar, sanctioning timeline and delivery of seasonal almanac.Support, manage and advise the Events Team on delivery of swimming events and ensure the standard is of the highest order.Oversee Swimming WA Pool Meet delivery, including all administrative and operational tasks prior to and during the event.Liaise with Swimming Australia and other Swimming bodies (State, regional, clubs) on matters regarding competitive pathways for swimmers.Lead the planning, development and delivery of the following major Swimming WA events: SWA OWS Series & State OWS and Pool Championships.Liaise with GM – Organisational Sustainability to develop marketing and brand positioning strategy for swimming events aimed at growing the sport.Manage all Risk Management protocols and procedures for events.Deliver safe and exciting OWS events that are well planned and have links to other swimming groups where relevant – e.g. Rottnest Channel Swim and LIWA.Ensure all events are delivered to the highest standard in alignment with World Aquatics rules and regulations and best practices in sport.Manage and report on key metrics across both OWS and Pool events.Administer, manage and monitor program budgets.Assist in the administration, acquittal and application of relevant grants and partnership funding.Minimum Requirements:Relevant Tertiary Qualification.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and manage time effectively.Current driver’s license, Working With Children Check & National Police Clearance (within last 6 months) or able to obtain.Preferred Qualifications:2 years of experience working with sport programs.Ability to manage budgets.Strong computer literacy especially using Office Suite.Passion for sport.Hours:38 hours per week.Usual business hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm. This position will involve hours outside of normal business hours including weekends, early mornings and evenings on occasion.
