We are currently looking for an Operator Training Simulator Technical Lead (m/f/d). In this role, you will be part of a distributed team of experts in Asset Technology – the powerhouse of applied Technology in the JV & Growth business group. You will act as technical lead and execute Industrial Digitalization projects for existing and new plants, linked to process digital twin initiatives such as offline, online, operator training simulators, machine learning and data analytics.
Your responsibilities:
* Show ownership for, and build technical competence in process simulation in order for Borealis to secure sustainable technical solutions and a continuously improving simulation community.
* Support change and user adoption in a fast-evolving environment, incorporating new ways of working and collaborating.
* Promote Industrial Digitalization initiatives with a fit-for-purpose mindset, securing business and user value in a cross-functional and collaborative environment.
* Contribute to ideation and strategic planning on plant and group level for Industrial Digitalization.
* Act as technical expert in the field of engineering / dynamic process modelling.
* Implement Industrial Digitalization projects in Borealis and in joint venture plants.
* As OTS technical lead, prepare the specifications, evaluate proposals, lead the vendor selection process, lead and execute the project to delivery.
* Create digital twin sub-models based on flowsheet simulations of specific manufacturing processes and deliver these to the project team for integration into the plant-wide digital twin.
* Prepare mathematical, statistical or AI/ML driven models to optimize the asset performance.
* Support data architectures and IT initiatives within the cloud / data lake environment and communication between the digital twins and the data repositories.
* Create visualization and context for digital twin data and insights to end users.
* Create and assess use cases and value propositions of potential digital twin applications and provide guidance and direction to the Digitalization program solutions.
* Provide input to process engineering and control engineering departments, regarding design concepts and specifications to leverage Digitalization manufacturing techniques.
About you
* Master's degree in Science, Technology, and/or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Excellent analytical and communication skills.
* Fluent in verbal and written English.
* Technical experiences and training in the following fields:
* Knowledgeable of OTS project execution requirements and methodologies.
* Minimum 5 years of recent experience in an OTS development and delivery role.
* Process modelling and simulation tools.
* Good understanding of chemical process technology and preferably Borstar PE or PP.
* Excellent dynamic modelling skills.
* Familiarity with various DCS / SIS providers and the technologies used to integrate them to the dynamic process model.
* Demonstrates technical competence development and knowledge sharing.
* Skilled in developing & maintaining good professional & personal relations and networks.
* Willingness to travel on a global basis is a requirement for this position.
