PRIMARY PURPOSE
To manage the DRH digital communications function through the website and social media channels and provide support to the Volunteer Coordinator, Fundraising/Events Coordinator, and Office staff to ensure all communications are coordinated.
SECONDARY PURPOSE
To provide public relations support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Social Media & Digital Marketing:
o Develop and implement a communications and marketing plan to manage the day-to-day creation of social media content ensuring posts drive engagement and traffic to the website and social media platforms, and ensure all social media content is in line with the DRH core messaging, on brand and shareable.
o In conjunction with the Board and Management, own and regularly review the DRH Social Media Policy for DRH Board, staff, and volunteers directing and monitoring Board, Staff, and volunteer social media activity.
o Actively encourage and support DRH staff and volunteers to use social media to engage supporters with DRH’s work. This could involve some basic training and sharing of your expertise.
o Build a digital community amongst our audience to include some key digital ambassadors across all social media platforms. Use this audience to share DRH agreed digital content.
o Provide regular updates on the effectiveness of social media marketing and ensure the DRH keeps ahead of new innovative ways to engage.
* DRH Publications:
o In conjunction with the President and the General Manager, develop the content for the monthly Refuge Ramblings newsletter and the bi-annual Chinwags newsletter and other collateral that will need to be developed from time to time.
* Maximise all marketing channels, including supporting Public Relations across traditional media and social media, to achieve maximum supporter engagement.
* Working relationships:
o Provide support to the Volunteer Coordinator and the Events/Fundraising Coordinator to effectively promote and deliver the events and fundraising portfolios.
o Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to promote the value of Volunteering with the DRH as well as recognising the significant contribution the Volunteers make to the operations of the DRH.
o Communicate daily with Trainers and Office staff to keep the website up to date with information in relation to our dogs as well as to prioritise those dogs who need promotion through our social media platforms each day.
o Together with relevant staff, regularly review the content on our website to ensure that it is up to date and engaging.
* Overall Contribution to the DRH operations and commitment to the values of the DRH:
o Participate and contribute to fortnightly Staff Meetings and information sessions ensuring timely two-way information flow and feedback on relevant issues.
o Actively engage in the delivery of your individual performance plan and its regular review with your Supervisor to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
o Embody the DRH values of Respect, Teamwork, Commitment, Caring, Empathy, and Integrity in all that you do in your work at the DRH.
o Adhere to all DRH policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE
* A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable.
* Experience in delivering the communications function of an organisation including social media.
* Experience handling dogs preferred; must LOVE dogs!
