Internships
The IAEA accepts a limited number of interns each year. The internships are awarded to persons studying towards a university degree or who have recently received a degree (see Internship web pages for further details).
Purpose of the Programme:
* To provide interns with the opportunity to gain practical work experience in line with their studies or interests, and expose them to the work of the IAEA and the United Nations as a whole;
* To benefit the IAEA's programmes through the assistance of qualified students specialized in various professional fields.
* The duration of an internship is normally not less than three months and not more than one year.
Organizational Setting
The Division of Information Technology provides support to the IAEA in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), including information systems for technical programmes and management. It is responsible for planning, developing and implementing an ICT strategy, for setting and enforcing common ICT standards throughout the Secretariat and for managing central ICT services. The IAEA's ICT infrastructure comprises hardware and software platforms, and cloud and externally-hosted services. The Division has implemented an IT service management model based on ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and Prince2 (Projects in a Controlled Environment) best practices.
Main Purpose
The intern will assist the Central Information Security Group in providing support to the information security awareness and education programme.
Functions / Key Results Expected
To work under the direction of the CISO, within MTIT-CISG, to support the Information Security Awareness and Education Programme. This includes the following duties:
* Assist in the creation of content and curriculum on information security and related topics.
* Assist with the creative design and content development for the internal website for Information Security Awareness.
* Assist with the preparation and potential delivery of training courses and supporting materials in all formats/mediums (e.g., online, in-person, etc.).
* Assist with basic data analysis related to security awareness campaigns (e.g., attendance, phish testing results, etc.).
* Any other tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* University degree in Information Technology or other relevant field
* MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint)
* Analytical skills
* Project Management
Applicant Eligibility
* Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years of age and have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree.
* Candidates may apply up to one year after the completion of a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
* Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship programme.
* Good written and spoken English essential; fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian) an asset.
* Candidates must attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application.
