Mai Wiru is seeking a Transport & Supply Manager to join our team! In this role, you’ll oversee logistics, supplier relationships, and transport services across remote South Australia (SA) and the Northern Territory (NT), ensuring access to nutritious food and essential items at affordable prices. You will manage fresh produce sourcing, store orders, and special projects while working in a dynamic, remote environment. The Role
The Transport & Supply Manager position is a key role responsible for managing the logistics needs of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Management
* Source and manage relationships with suppliers of wholesale groceries, fresh produce, food services, general merchandise, and others.
* Ensure suppliers provide the best service and value, addressing non-compliance issues.
* Negotiate pricing, ensure accurate supplier charges, and maintain systems for supplier delivery.
* Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for effective operations.
Transport Service Management
* Manage relationships with transport service providers, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transport solutions.
* Maximise load efficiency and capacity for contracted services.
* Ensure administrative systems align with transport scheduling and supplier delivery.
* Oversee freight manifesting, updates on delays, and manage freight billing and debtor systems.
Store, Palya, and Agency Orders
* Assist with special order needs and community order systems for external agencies.
* Develop systems for ordering food, groceries, consumables, and household goods.
* Oversee the transport and delivery of community orders and maintain appropriate systems for customer service, billing, and debtor management.
Produce Sourcing & Logistics
* Manage sourcing and transport of fresh produce and meat for Mai Wiru stores.
* Oversee ordering, consolidation, and transport processes for produce and meat, ensuring quality and value.
* Develop systems for managing supplier documentation and produce logistics.
Supply Revenue & Cost Management
* Manage supply revenue streams and ensure profitability for Mai Wiru stores.
* Oversee billing processes for suppliers, freight customers, and community orders.
* Manage expenses, supplier invoices, and various income streams.
Palya Operational Assistance
* Assist with bulk orders for Palya and ensure efficient purchasing, sourcing, and stock forwarding.
* Reconcile and manage billing for Palya orders.
Project Management & Special Orders
* Manage specific projects (e.g., container deposit systems).
* Assist with store rollouts, upgrades, and major community order tasks.
Other Duties
* May require travel to regional and remote areas, availability for after-hours work, and handling of special tasks.
Selection Criteria:
* Computer literacy: Advanced competence in Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
* Organisational skills: Strong ability to manage multiple projects.
* Literacy and numeracy skills: Proficient in written and numerical tasks.
* Communication skills: Effective in maintaining relationships with stakeholders and clients.
* Interpersonal skills: Professional and able to communicate across diverse cultures.
* Project management skills: Expertise in planning and administration.
* Teamwork and independence: Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required Skills/Qualifications/Licences
* Certificate in Supply Chain and Logistics or 2-3 years relevant logistics experience.
* Experience in logistics including knowledge and experience of booking and coordinating road transport.
* Driver's Licence: Current manual licence.
* Police Clearance.
This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and the ability to manage a variety of logistics functions for the remote stores and communities served by Mai Wiru.
