We are looking to fill 2 positions in our Enterprise Governance team to support our City leaders to pursue fit for purpose, outcome driven governance through the development and implementation of our corporate governance framework.
The position works within a team responsible for leading the City’s policy, delegations and decision-making frameworks designed to empower our people to make decisions.
About your new role
As part of a newly formed team of Governance Advisers, you’ll play a vital role in designing and implementing key governance and decision-making practices including annual reviews and management of legislative delegations, policies and other frameworks as required.
We're looking for people who can:
1. Implement and continually improve the Governance Framework and support building capability of leaders to effectively make decisions within the decision-making guardrails.
2. Deliver and continually improve the City’s Policy Framework and implement a triannual policy review schedule to ensure the City’s policies are kept current.
3. Provide advice, deliver and implement the annual delegations and administer the three yearly in-depth analysis and review of sub-delegations.
4. Provide advice, deliver and implement the authorised person and local government workers review and initiate a triannual suitability review across the organisation to ensure alignment with strategies and outcomes.
5. Provide specialist advice and consultancy services to all areas of the organisation in relation to governance functions to support the development of effective solutions to complex issues in relation to policy, decision making, delegations, authorised persons, local government workers or general governance matters.
6. Facilitate, negotiate and influence effective approaches to complex issues in relation to governance practices with stakeholders across the City.
7. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders from across the organisation and other Local Governments, Contractors and Consultants.
We're looking for people who have:
1. Drivers licence Class C Unrestricted
2. Desired Education and Registrations: Bachelor Degree in Law or Public Policy or industry bodies such as AICD, Governance Institute etc.
3. Policy, Governance or related field or equivalent experience.
4. Demonstrated experience of 3+ years at a similar level.
5. Demonstrated experience in local government:
* Policy development
* Delegations / Authorised Persons / Local Government Workers
* Good decision making
