About the company,
Our client has engaged Evolve Scientific (NES Fircroft) to source an experienced Innovation Operations Manager on a permanent basis.
Located in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne, this is an innovative coffee and tea extraction organisation who has over the last 5 years utilised a unique technology in producing coffee extract.
Although the role is an Operational role, we are seeking someone who comes with a Science and Innovation background and understanding.
About the role
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and optimise the overall operations of manufacturing and site in an efficient and cost effective manner.
In addition to this, you will be responsible for the following:
1. Detailed planning, budgeting, forecasting and cost management for business performance and future growth of operational areas
2. Manage the short and long term budget, funding, resourcing of the production plan process
3. Commercial matters including leasing equipment, building condition requirements, waste generation and sustainability, utilities optimisation and cost
4. Compliance issues including all quality, product, building and environment and maintenance of plant and buildings.
5. Operational budget and cost control, capital and equipment forecasting requirements. Product yield and grade performance.
6. Reconcile manufacturing stock, packaging, consumables, waste product inventory of the operation.
7. Oversee asset management in terms of condition and use.
8. Manage supplier relationships and contracts on supply in packaging, utilities and service requirements.
9. Weekly and monthly reporting of operational cost and production performance.
10. Manage Quality performance, pest control and outsourced cleaning and general labour requirements.
11. Manage and report as required to local government and other authorities for the purpose of local body criteria
12. Manage continued improvements in operational activities
13. Manage training and development of the manufacturing personnel.
Skills & experience:
To be successful for this role, you will possess the following:
1. A demonstration of operational performance and qualifications
2. 5+ years experience within a manufacturing company with associated experience in an order to delivery role.
3. R&D, Innovation understanding at an operational level
4. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite; Office 365 is an advantage, Production Planning Modelling expertise. Xero, Unleashed and Accounting platform experience is an advantage
5. Commercial, manufacturing and analytical mindset, with the ability to think big picture
6. Relationship building skills and key networking skills
7. Experience in freight and shipping internationally is valuable
8. An understanding of quality systems, audits and certifications required.

You must possess initiative, enthusiasm, have the ability to make crucial decisions independently, come with excellent quality systems knowledge in food manufacturing and a willingness to progress within the company.
