The Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating product designs with accurate and detailed technical drawings (2D or 3D models), as well as data packs and specifications for engineering and manufacturing.
They will also implement new product designs, develop existing products, provide support for multiple projects, control documents, and provide technical support across the business.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Create detailed manufacturing drawings.
* Revise Product Change Notifications (ECN) on existing designs and drawings.
* Create Bill of Materials (BOMs) from drawings.
* Use design for manufacture methodology, to ensure manufacturing feasibility and error proofing are embedded in the product design.
* Work with the production team to improve design/drawings which in turn improve production efficiency of manufacturing.
* Work with the purchasing team on the selection and verification of new parts/components.
* Ensure customer requirements are met and translated into engineering specifications and designs, complying with internal and regulatory requirements.
* Communicate with internal departments and customers as required.
* Coordinate and complete the design review prior to releasing to manufacturing.
* Undertake continuing training and development on Solidworks and Product Data Management (PDM) techniques.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, design reviews and problem-solving activities.
Key experience required
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant work experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
* Must have SolidWorks Experience and 3D/Parametric Drawing
* Advanced MS Office skills
* Experience in metals manufacturing and fabrication business preferred
* Knowledge of GD&T principles beneficial
