Job title: Junior Systems Administrator (f/m/d)
Job location: The Central Executive Management Office of BBMRI-ERIC in Graz, Austria
Job purpose: As a member of the IT Services and Research Department, you will support all office operations regarding IT and the infrastructure operations of the Common Service IT.
Contract: We offer a 2-year contract, full time (40 hours/week), with the possibility of extension/permanent contract. As work-life balance is a high priority at BBMRI-ERIC, less than a full-time contract (e.g. ~80%) can be agreed.
Who we are: BBMRI-ERIC is the European research infrastructure for biobanking and biomolecular resources. As one of the largest European Research Infrastructures in Life Science with 24 Member States plus IARC/WHO, we bring together all the main players from the biobanking and biomolecular resources field – researchers, biobankers, industry, and patients – to boost biomedical and Life Science research. Our goal is to enable personalised medicine to the fullest.
What makes the job special? As Junior Systems Administrator, you are passionate about administering various IT systems and environments, implementing new services, and migrating servers and services. Ideally, you bring some experience with server management, mobile device management, scripting, Microsoft365, etc. This position offers you the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and innovative environment and to keep up to date with cutting-edge technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Management of Microsoft 365 account for BBMRI-ERIC
2. System administration of Linux and Windows server
3. Support the network (firewall, switches, general troubleshooting)
4. Automation (e.g. ansible) / Scripting (bash, powershell, etc.)
5. End user / customer support: general knowledge in OS' (win, macos, android, iOS, linux distros)
6. Assisting with automation of system administration
In this role your required qualifications and skills are:
1. Upper secondary technical college (HTL) degree or completed apprenticeship in "IT Techniker" & work experience would be beneficial
2. Experience with administering Microsoft 365 (AzureAD, EntraID, Exchange, Teams, Intune, MDM)
3. Knowledge of Linux server administration (vmware, openstack, docker, webserver)
4. Good understanding of IT security, including securing computing and storage systems, security in computer networks, and requirements on processing personal data in computer systems
5. Curiosity to stay up to date with the latest ways to build and support
6. Professional fluency in English, as English is the official working language of BBMRI-ERIC
Employment terms and conditions: The work can be performed at the headquarters in Graz with occasional home office options. The employment follows the Austrian employment law.
What we offer: According to European/international standards for similar roles and responsibilities: €37,800.00 as annual gross salary (based on 40 hours/week); final salary dependent on qualifications and experience. Flexible working hours and occasional working from home are available.
