Position: Science Communication Manager
This is a 4.3M€ Research Network funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), which gathers probabilists and combinatorialists of the University of Vienna, the Technical University of Vienna and the Technical University of Graz to work on a series of joint projects on random discrete structures arising in mathematical physics.

The advertised position is associated with the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna. The extent of employment is half-time (20 hours per week), Classification CBA.
* 54 VwGr. IVa with a minimum monthly gross salary of €1.633,10 for 20 hours. The salary can be increased if we can credit professional experience. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible. It is a limited contract until the end of the project (29.02.2028).
Your Future Tasks
As Science Communication Manager, you are a dedicated professional with a passion for science communication and storytelling. You will develop and implement the communication and outreach strategy of the network and more generally of the faculty, addressing both the academic community and the general public.
In this role, you will proactively write and pitch press releases and news stories, generate content related to the SFB and the mathematics department's activities and project results on social media, and update relevant webpages. You will coordinate public engagements/social outreach events (e.g., KinderUni, Lange Nacht der Forschung) and, with your creativity and ideas, develop new communication activities to make our research accessible to the wider public.
This Is Part Of Your Personality
* Degree in communication, media studies, marketing, journalism, or in Mathematics (M.Sc or Ph.D) or equivalent professional experience
* Experience with social media, video, photography, podcasts, or other media
* Excellent command of English and German
* Experience in science journalism and/or science writing is a strong plus
* You are enthusiastic about supporting our researchers and communicating our science to a varied audience
* Team player with the ability to work independently
* If you bring a degree in mathematics or have worked in a science communication role in a research environment, it will be a great bonus!
