Museums Victoria cares for the State scientific and cultural collections, providing visitor access, activities and events at five distinct venues: Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum, Scienceworks, IMAX Cinema and the world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building.
ABOUT THE POSITION
In consultation with the Head, Philanthropy and Director, Development and Commercial Operations, the Manager, Bequests is responsible for designing and leading the implementation of a successful and sustainable Bequests program at Museums Victoria. They will drive awareness of giving at Museums Victoria and sustainable revenue growth for the organisation. As a senior member of the Philanthropy team, the Manager, Bequests will mentor and coach colleagues to strengthen capacity and skills in this specialist area.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and lead a comprehensive strategy to attract bequest commitments and grow the bequest program.
* Manage and cultivate relationships with potential donors, securing planned gifts for the Museums Victoria Foundation.
* Establish and lead a bequest society to engage and inspire supporters.
* Collaborate with the Development team to drive awareness and grow the pipeline of bequest prospects.
* Represent Museums Victoria at donor meetings and industry events, acting as an ambassador for the Museum.
* Regular reporting to the Head, Philanthropy and Director, Development & Commercial Operations for the Foundation Committee, Executive Team, CEO and MV Board.
* Monitor and evaluate the bequest program, providing strategic insights and reporting to senior leadership.
* Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth implementation of legacy gifts.
ABOUT YOU
You bring extensive experience in bequests and planned giving, along with a proven ability to grow and lead a fundraising program. As a senior member of the team, the Manager, Bequests will mentor and coach colleagues, sharing their expertise to strengthen the wider Philanthropy team’s capacity to discuss bequests. You are a strategic and creative thinker, and an exceptional communicator with a passion for building lasting relationships with donors and other stakeholders.
Other Information:
* Driver’s Licence is highly desirable.
* The successful applicant will be required to undergo a National Police Records Check and Working with Children Check.
This is a full-time, ongoing position, however, 0.8FTE will be considered. The salary on offer is VPS 5.1 $106,534 per annum (pro rata) + 11.5 superannuation.
