Summary

Role Purpose:
Join Novartis Technical Research & Development as the Director of the Scientific Office for Drug Product Development Biologics. Lead a dynamic team in advancing biologics product development (i.e. formulation and DP process development via in-silico approaches) and delivery technologies. Shape and drive technology and innovation strategies, ensuring scientific rigor and acting as an ambassador for the Novartis Culture - Inspired, Curious, and Unbossed.
About the Role
Role Responsibilities:
* Leads the Scientific Office of DPD Development in TRD Biologics and CGT
* Liaise and closely aligns with Global TRD Bx Scientific Office Executive director for TRD Bx overarching topics
* Leads associates in DPD Scientific Office located across the TRD Biologics & CGT sites
* Drives the broader DPD organization for scientific rigor and cutting-edge technologies and innovations
* Contributes to TRD Bx innovation thesis with technology and innovation strategy aspects from DP perspective
* Captures new trends and proposes advancements within TRD Bx, with a focus on advancing formulation development, drug product process development and delivery technologies
* Ensures continuous evolvement of scientific standards for DP development work to meet needs of the Biologics portfolio, considering regulatory requirements
* Manages and inspires the DPD organization to explore, develop and implement cutting edge development, manufacturing and automation technologies
* Guides and coaches along with Scientific office associates during root cause investigations and troubleshooting e.g. CMC Regulatory submissions/amendments and answering HA questions, developing, maintaining and continuously improving DP strategies.
* Drives systematic knowledge sharing in Bx and Drug product partner organizations
* Ensure broad overview on the industry, academic and regulatory landscape for drug product development.
* Enhance external engagement and ensures the representation of DPD externally at meetings, giving talks, being part of industry consortiums
* Acts as sounding board for publication and patent strategy including review
* Role models for unbossed, curious and inspired leadership in Novartis
Ideal Background:
* University degree in technical or scientific area, preferentially pharmaceutics
* English spoken and written mandatory. German desired
* Minimum of 15 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry, at least partially in the field of drug product development
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in leadership positions
* Excellent knowledge of the drug development process incl. process commercialization and regulatory strategy
* A proven track record in leading and engaging people in a multicultural, global environment
* Proven ability to create and establish strategy and vision in organizations
* Ability to foster and implement focused innovation
