The purpose of this role is to explore microbiome sequencing data sets comprising 1000s of samples. We serve insights to customers and for new innovations. This role is pivotal to deliver these. You will have influence from data analysis to communicating the results.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Developing analysis workflows for processing and annotating raw data
* Exploratory analysis of datasets and visualization of results along customer pain points
* Building robust statistical models for future data products
* Enforce FAIR data principles
* Perform trainings and demonstrations of tools we develop for the scientific community
* Report and publish results also in scientific journals

You bring:
* A PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology or similar or a matching master's degree with 5+ years of experience in the field.
* Knowledge of microbial systems / microbiome analyses, Statistics and machine learning (classical statistics, decision theory, clustering, network analyses, text mining) with large datasets.
* Familiar with a scripting language (R, Python) and topic-related packages, *NIX programming, SQL, MySQL, SPARQL.
* Demonstrated experience in functional genomics, 16S, metagenomics. Experience with metabolic pathways, (meta-)transcriptomics are a plus.
* Demonstrated experience with software development and data science best practices such as version control (git), unit testing, thorough documentation and reproducible project structures.
* Experience with graph databases and ontologies, workflow languages are a plus.
