The Position:
We are seeking a Roaming Chef Supervisor to join our team and support our aged care homes across regional Victoria. This full-time role offers the flexibility to travel between our facilities, ensuring high-quality food service and supervision across multiple locations.
As the Roaming Chef Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring that meals meet dietary standards, are prepared to a high standard, and are delivered efficiently to residents. You will work closely with Facility Managers to maintain the quality of food service and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Menu Planning: Collaborate with residents, their representatives, dietitians, RN in Charge, and General Managers to ensure adequate nutrition and hydration standards are maintained for residents.
2. Resident Needs and Preferences: Maintain records of residents’ preferences, needs, and assistive devices, and ensure these are provided.
3. Recipe Documentation: Document recipes for menu dishes and special dietary requirements, ensuring meals cater for cultural, spiritual, and special occasion needs.
4. Supply Ordering: Order supplies and ensure adequate stock according to the menu and budget.
5. Team Leadership: Lead, supervise, and support kitchen staff, ensuring efficient and high-quality food service. Provide guidance, training, and motivation to your team.
6. Food Safety Program: Implement, monitor, and evaluate the Food Safety Program, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
7. Resident Feedback: Address and follow up on resident complaints and feedback to ensure satisfaction.
8. Meal Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook meals according to the menu and Food Safety Program.
9. Contribute to Management: Participate in management meetings and strategic planning for the Catering Department.
10. Professional Development: Engage in relevant professional development and mandatory training to stay current with industry best practices.
11. Budget Management: Ensure that food-related expenditure aligns with approved budgets.
12. Staffing & Rostering: Manage rostering and leave arrangements to ensure the Catering Department is adequately staffed with the appropriate skill levels.
13. Compliance Obligations: Ensure all direct reports are aware of their policy, legislative, and compliance obligations from the start of their employment.
14. Workplace Issues: Conduct regular meetings with Catering Department staff to address quality, work health, and safety issues.
15. Travel to Sites: Travel to different facilities across Victoria as required, providing support, leadership, and ensuring consistent food service standards across multiple locations.
16. Education: Ensure all staff have completed the online training or when necessary face-to-face education and training.
Requirements:
* Trade Cook Certificate or equivalent.
* Current Food Safety Supervisors Certificate.
* Proven experience in a kitchen management or supervisory role, preferably in aged care or similar settings.
* Strong understanding of food safety regulations and dietary requirements.
* Full flexibility to travel across the state of Victoria as required.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Passion for delivering high-quality and nutritious meals.
