As a Category Manager at gurkerl.at, you will be an essential part of our Commercial Team, focusing on the dynamic and fast-paced grocery market in Vienna. Key Responsibilities
1. Category Development and Innovation:
Develop and maintain a diverse and innovative assortment that meets market demands and exceeds customer expectations. Work closely with the Senior Category Manager to drive profitability and distinctiveness in the category, continuously exploring new opportunities for product development.
2. Supplier Relationship Management:
Establish and nurture strong relationships with suppliers, focusing on mutual profitability and collaboration. Emphasize working with small and regional producers to bring unique, high-quality products to our customers, ensuring they are delivered fresh and fast.
3. Pricing Strategy and Inventory Efficiency:
Develop competitive pricing strategies that reflect market conditions while maintaining customer satisfaction. Oversee inventory management to ensure product freshness, minimize wastage, and optimize stock levels.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
Work collaboratively across departments, aligning with gurkerl.at’s overarching goals. Maintain open communication channels to ensure all team members are informed and working towards common objectives.
5. Customer-Centricity:
Stay informed about customer preferences and market trends, using this knowledge to drive category decisions that amaze our customers and enhance their shopping experience.

Candidate Requirements
1. Educational Qualification:
Degree or adequate professional experience in the food sector, hotel industry or similar.
2. Experience:
Preferably 1-2 years in category management, retail, or a related field with a focus on impactful results and a proven ability to manage complex categories.
3. Language Skills:
German: C2 (Fluent).
4. Skills and Attributes:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in both German and English. Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset, essential in a dynamic work environment. Passionate about food, with a deep understanding of the meat, processed meat, fish, and bakery categories. Well-organized and structured work approach with a commitment to continuous learning. A strong team player dedicated to contributing to collective success and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Salary: According to collective agreement from € 55.000.- gross per year.
