Reporting to the Director Finance & Corporate Services, the Supply Manager oversees the supply chain function at Burnside Hospital for both of our sites, located at Stepney and Toorak Gardens. The role is both operational and strategic in nature focused on delivering improved efficiency, system evolution, streamlining processes, and enhancing the quality and timeliness of the supply chain service. Measuring and reporting on supplier performance is an important part of the role, as is partnering with other health service supply chain departments. This is a permanent full-time opportunity with a required presence across both Burnside Hospital sites.
Key responsibilities include:
* The development and delivery of the Supply Department's operational plans and initiatives, ensuring reliability, efficiency, financial, performance and sustainability targets are met
* Preparation and management of inventory, operating and capital financial expenditure and budgets
* Timely, relevant and accurate reporting
* Promotion and evolution of system enhancements.
The Supply Manager is also responsible for developing and delivering services, systems, projects and business solutions within the Supply Department to support Burnside Hospital, with a key focus on:
* The formulation, implementation and delivery of purchasing and stores services
* Ensuring all services optimise and enhance efficiencies and patient-centred performance
* Ensuring all services are provided in accordance with organisational, financial, operational and quality standards
* Ensuring activities of the Supply Department support the Hospital's brand and reputation
* Introducing, reviewing and optimising policies and systems to ensure compliance and risk mitigation
* Delivering business information enabling traceability, early identification and responsiveness of opportunities and issues
* Managing contractor relationships to ensure value-for-money, quality, safety and reliability of services.
Team leadership is a key component of this role, requiring a manager who:
* Embodies Burnside Hospital's values-based approach
* Fosters a high-performance team culture and continual staff development through reviewing, coaching and training
* Ensures supply team activities comply with relevant legislation, standards, policies and procedures
* Promotes a safety culture within the team, fostering a healthy and safe working environment
* Builds and maintains the Supply Department's engagement, cooperation, understanding and synergy across our hospitals
* Develops and maintains internal and external relationships to support delivery of strategic and operational plans and goals.
About you
You will be a technically proficient and experienced supply chain leader who enjoys engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
This position requires an individual who has:
* Tertiary qualification in business management or procurement, and/or demonstrated experience in similar role
* Experience in a similar industry with a commercial background and thorough understanding of stores management and development and maintenance of stores inventory systems
* Demonstrated leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate people to achieve outcomes
* Experience in implementing and controlling budgets, resources and governance processes
* Knowledge of specific relevant industry guidelines including but not limited to Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHSS), Australian Standards and Statutory requirements
* Exceptional negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to establish effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Demonstrated project management, decision making, and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in relevant systems, particularly Microsoft Office and inventory management systems
* Drive, enthusiasm and commitment, with a visionary, results-oriented outlook and ability to champion change
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with ability to respond to continual changing priorities
* The highest ethical standards and treats all hospital and patient matters with confidentiality and respect.
