The VicGrid Director, Engagement develops and delivers best-practice engagement strategies across VicGrid's policy and project delivery program, with the support of a high-performing and geographically-dispersed team.
They provide the VicGrid executive with strategic advice on how best to fulfil VicGrid's responsibility to engage early and deeply with communities, First Peoples and stakeholders in building knowledge and support for Victoria's urgent transition to renewable energy. With other senior members of the VicGrid team, they are responsible for managing key relationships between VicGrid and stakeholders across communities, government and industry.
What you will deliver
* You will support the Executive Director and work closely with the Director, Communications and Corporate Affairs to devise and deliver short, medium- and long-term strategies for integrated community and stakeholder engagement, issues management, relationship building and content creation.
* You will apply advanced specialist community and stakeholder engagement skills to build effective and empathetic working relationships with external stakeholders including landholders, rural and regional communities, Traditional Owner/First Peoples groups, local government, community organisations, industry stakeholders, educational institutions, and others.
* You will drive a whole-of-organisation approach to engagement, ensuring best practice and state-wide strategies to build greater community understanding of and support for renewable energy zones and transmission projects.
* You will build relationships within the organisation to help achieve VicGrid-wide business outcomes, with a focus on the regions. You'll establish and maintain relationships with a broad range of key stakeholders, proactively shaping relationships both within VicGrid and with counterparts across the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action, the government and the energy sector.
* You will identify emerging issues internally and externally that may influence or impact VicGrid's reputation or operational performance and recommend appropriate community and stakeholder engagement strategies to help mitigate risk, working collaboratively across VicGrid teams to maximise their impact.
What you will bring
* Extensive demonstrable experience with stakeholder engagement, communications and issues management, in a critical and complex environment.
* Superior people and issues management skills, honed within complex and high-pressured major project and/or policy reform environments: infrastructure and/or energy sector experience highly regarded.
* Demonstrated specialist skills to enhance VicGrid's reputation and manage reputational risk, including developing and implementing pro-active and reactive media strategies.
