We value transparent sourcing and clean-label standards for the European retail market.About the RoleThe Commercial Director is tasked with leading the strategic growth of the tofu category across Europe and strengthening New Originals' role as Category Captain in the European Tofu Market. This role combines leading our three sales business units (Household Brands, our in-house startup chickpea tofu Omami, and Private Label) with a strategic role in developing category management tools and high-level interactions with our leading customers. Based on consumer insights, the European and global protein transition, and an understanding of the food conversion happening on a European and global scale, the successful candidate will develop strategic pricing, category management with European key customers, and support brand development and strategic innovation to position the company as a dominant player in the tofu, spreads, and ready-to-cook segments. It involves developing new markets, fostering strong partnerships, leading teams, and driving profitability.ResponsibilitiesEuropean Market Leadership: Oversee and drive tofu market growth across Europe by increasing household penetration as well as usage occasions and intensity. Identify and capitalize on market opportunities, establishing tofu as a key future protein and strengthening our company's leading position in the category. Lead the consumer transition to increased natural plant proteins by considering local and regional preferences and dynamics, ensuring cultural and market alignment.Sales and Customer Engagement: Lead sales efforts for private label and branded tofu products, ensuring revenue growth and customer satisfaction. Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and trade partners, fostering trust and collaboration. Interact with key customers across Europe to develop the tofu category.Profitability and Pricing Strategy: Develop and execute strategic pricing for the category across Europe to enhance category growth, profitability, and market competitiveness. Monitor and improve margin performance through data-driven insights and negotiation with trade partners.Market and Category Development: Spearhead the growth of the tofu category within the fast-growing ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat segments. Develop HORECA and industry sales as a secondary (but important) task. Leverage market and consumer insights to develop innovative products and marketing strategies. Conduct thorough market analysis to anticipate trends and adapt strategies accordingly.Innovation and Strategic Marketing: In partnership with the Marketing Director, drive innovative approaches to sales-related marketing, positioning tofu as a preferred protein choice. Collaborate with marketing teams to implement campaigns that enhance brand visibility and appeal.Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and achieve business objectives.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is required. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is a plus.Required SkillsMinimum of 15 years of experience in sales and market development within the food industry, preferably in chilled, ready-to-cook, and related segments.Proven track record of successfully leading market expansion and driving profitability.Experience in driving category management projects with a proven track record.Experience in both brand and private label markets is a must. HORECA experience is a plus.Preferred SkillsStrategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies to achieve market leadership and business growth.Leadership: Strong leadership skills to inspire and manage a high-performing team.Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing market data and deriving actionable insights to inform business decisions.Pay range and compensation packageWe offer a competitive gross annual salary of €120,000 along with additional benefits based on the actual location of the final candidate. Our flexible workplace options include Banská Bystrica and Bratislava in Slovakia; Vienna in Austria; and Wiesbaum in Germany.
