Advocacy and Community Impact Manager (SA/NT)
$122,000 – $145,000 per year + super + salary pkg
Are you a connector, a community builder, and a strong communicator with a passion for health advocacy? Do you love being out in the community, making real change happen from the ground up?
We’re looking for an Advocacy and Community Impact Manager to lead Diabetes Australia’s local engagement in SA & NT. You’ll be the public face of our work on the ground – forging partnerships, lifting our profile, supporting local advocates, and helping shape community-led impact.
This role is all about visibility, voice, and meaningful presence – representing a national mission in a way that resonates deeply with local people and partners.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Building Diabetes Australia’s profile and reputation across SA & NT
2. Acting as a trusted local representative at community events, forums, and stakeholder meetings
3. Forging partnerships with health services, community groups, and local leaders
4. Coordinating our network of advocates, ambassadors, and community champions
5. Supporting and promoting community connection initiatives – from peer groups to recognition programs
6. Collaborating with national teams to deliver locally relevant programs, campaigns, and donor engagement touchpoints
7. Bringing valuable insights from your community back into our national strategy
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
1. Have a strong background in stakeholder engagement, advocacy, public or community health, or the NFP sector
2. Are confident in external engagement and public representation
3. Know your way around the political, health and community landscapes in your state/territory
4. Are organised, independent, and able to manage multiple projects at once
5. Believe in the power of community voice, connection, and local presence
Bonus points if you also have:
1. Tertiary qualifications in Public Health, Community Development or a related field
2. Experience with lived experience advocacy, peer programs, or grassroots health initiatives
At Diabetes Australia, we’re committed to reducing the impact of diabetes across the country – and that starts with strong, connected communities. In this newly created role, you’ll play a vital part in helping us build trust, amplify local voices, and deepen our reach and impact across the country.

AtDiabetes Australia, we value diversity and inclusion. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, including those living with disability, returning to the workforce, or from underrepresented communities. Let’s make a difference together.
