Role Overview:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Ume Loans will play a crucial hands-on role in shaping and executing the technology strategy that drives business innovation and operational efficiency within the company. This includes overseeing technology infrastructure, driving digital transformation initiatives, ensuring data security and regulatory compliance, and leading a small team of technical professionals.
As a key member of the leadership team, the CIO will oversee the development, implementation, and management of Ume Loans’ information technology infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with the company’s strategic goals. The CIO will also lead digital transformation efforts, enabling seamless customer experiences and improving internal processes to drive growth in a competitive lending market.
The CIO at Ume Loans will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s vision for technology-driven lending solutions. Reporting directly to the MD, the CIO will be responsible for the strategic direction of all IT functions.
The CIO will serve as the chief technology advocate within the organisation, ensuring the business leverages technology to gain competitive advantages in the highly regulated and rapidly evolving Australian lending industry.
With a focus on customer experience, operational efficiency, and security, the CIO will work closely with other senior leaders to bring Ume Loans into securely the next phase of growth and innovation.

Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience (5+ years) in IT leadership roles; experience within the fintech or lending industry would be advantageous but not a requirement.
* The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Salesforce for CRM management, Zapier for workflow automation, Gravity Forms for form creation and integration, WordPress for website management and content updates, SendGrid for email marketing and automation, and Office 365 for email, collaboration, and productivity tools.
* Relevant Microsoft Certifications across one or more of the following Microsoft subjects: Business applications, data management, security, and technical infrastructure.
* Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development, cloud computing, data security, and digital transformation.
* Familiarity with Australian regulatory requirements around data security, financial services, and privacy (e.g., ASIC, APRA).
* Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
* Strong business acumen and the ability to align technology with business goals.
* Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Technology Leadership:
* Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with Ume Loans’ business objectives.
* Guide the company in adopting emerging technologies to enhance loan processing, customer engagement, and data analytics capabilities.
* Lead IT initiatives aimed at improving customer satisfaction, reducing operational costs, and maintaining a secure digital environment.
* Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of all IT systems, networks, and data centers.
* Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of systems and services, including cloud-based solutions.
* Manage the overall IT budget, including cost-benefit analysis for new technologies and upgrades.
2. Data Security & Compliance:
* Ensure the company adheres to relevant data privacy and security regulations, particularly those specific to the Australian lending industry.
* Implement data protection strategies, including disaster recovery and risk management frameworks.
* Regularly assess and improve the company's cybersecurity protocols to ensure they remain robust.
3. Procedural Documentation:
* Documentation of IT architecture, networks & system integrations, as well as guidelines for secure data sharing and third-party service provider management.
* Ensuring security policies around data encryption access and control are documented and accurate, in addition to risk management and control processes.
* Documentation of workflows for IT service management & standard operating procedures for system upgrades & maintenance.
* Lead digital initiatives that streamline lending processes, improve customer acquisition, and enhance service delivery through automation and AI.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure technology solutions meet business needs, including marketing, operations, and risk management.
* Foster innovation through continuous evaluation and implementation of cutting-edge fintech solutions.
* Help our webmaster maintain and innovate our websites to ensure that they are fully functioning and growing in visibility.
* Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT team capable of supporting Ume Loans’ evolving technology needs.
* Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the IT department.
* Ensure team members receive appropriate training on new system enhancements so that they can utilise our systems to their full capacity.
* Oversight of key project planning, building, rollout, and ongoing management.
4. Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
* Manage relationships with key technology vendors and service providers to ensure quality, cost-effective solutions.
* Communicate technology strategies, updates, and progress to the executive team and key stakeholders.
* Work closely with the marketing and operations teams to integrate customer-facing platforms (e.g., website, mobile apps, online broker portals) into overall business strategies.
Remuneration:
On offer with this full-time position is an industry-based salary that will be in alignment to the experience being brought to the role.
