We are offering a fully funded PhD position at Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU Vienna), where you will collaborate with the dynamic research team led by Prof. Phillip Nell at the Institute for International Business. Through this position, you will work on cutting-edge research projects and receive comprehensive academic training to prepare for an outstanding career in academia.
What to expect
* Pursue your dissertation: Participate in WU’s Ph.D. program and profit from close supervision and teamwork.
* Conduct research: Collaborate on research projects, for example on the influence of AI in improving headquarters-subsidiary relations, decision making, influence of culture on AI reliance, and behavioral aspects of strategic management. Most projects involve experimental design and quantitative data; some of the projects are conducted with top corporate partners.
* Collaborate in a team: Work closely with other team members, including 2 Assistant Professors and 3 PhD students in a highly diverse team.
* Develop: Spend a semester abroad during your PhD. Previous Ph.D. students have stayed at universities such as INSEAD, Michigan, and Stanford.
* Become a member of the scientific community: Participate actively in international conferences and present and discuss your research with scholars around the world.
* Teach and Contribute: Teach one course per semester (first semester is teaching-free), co-supervise theses, and support the administration of the institute.
* Develop Skills: Build conceptual, interpersonal, and methodological skills over the course of your employment, especially in data management and analysis.
What you have to offer
* A Master’s degree in business, (digital) economics, IT, psychology or cognitive sciences, or related fields from a well-rated university.
* Very good grades in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
* Strong motivation to pursue an academic career and to conduct research and teaching.
* Excellent English language skills – specifically in writing.
* German language skills (B2 level or higher) are a plus.
* Advanced skills in quantitative methods/statistics (e.g. experience with STATA or R).
* Programming skills (e.g. in Python), especially related to AI algorithms, are a plus.
* A strong interest in the area of AI in international business & strategy.
* Previous publications and experience in AI-related research projects are a plus.
* Goal-orientation, ambition, and resilience.
* Willingness to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2,786.10 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
