Position: Database Administrator, Compute DBA TeamUnit: GB TechnologyReports to: Manager, Compute DBALocation: Bratislava or PortugalNature and aim of the positionThe holder of this position is responsible for the management, engineering and operation of all database services of Global Blue Group. This includes multiple businesses critical 24x7 production databases as well as the delivery of Global Blue internally used databases for IT services.This position provides day-to-day technical ownership across a broad range of database technologies and works in a multinational DBA team around the globe.Main skills and responsibilitiesFunctionalDelivery of database services on a global scale.Managing and overseeing overall aspects of DB services.Creating and maintaining procedures, policies and documentation for database systems support and ensure effective use of enterprise infrastructure.Establishing best practices to ensure optimal performance and achievement of defined SLAs.Providing database 2nd level support and technical support for GBIT Service Center.Ensuring that the database infrastructure is kept up to date (incl. patching).Analyse strengths and weaknesses of database system operation and infrastructure and seek out opportunities for improvement.Deliver and maintain end to end monitoring capabilities for all database components.Maintaining and monitoring database capacity planning.Ensuring IT Security policies and application access controls are implemented and kept up to date.Ensuring that company data is backed up and can be restored whenever required following corporate data backup and retention policies.Advising service delivery managers, product managers, development leads and external clients on technical implementation of GB database services.Assist in and proactively liaise with other GBIT and business teams to understand and develop solutions.Reporting and collaborationThe position reports to the Manager of Compute DBA in Vienna.Close collaboration with other teams like the application, the development or the service center teams, service delivery managers, and product managers within the organization is required.Profile and educationIT education concluded (Bachelor or Master’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent practical experience)Accurate and reliable communicationAbility to work effectively with multinational contacts on all organizational levelsStrong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skillsHigh quality standards, accuracy and high risk awarenessAbility to manage and respond to changes in prioritiesWork experience within an international/multicultural environmentIndependent, goal-oriented and self-motivating personalityProven ability to work in a matrix organization with teams (desirable: distributed in different time zones)Specific skills and knowledgeMinimum 3+ years as database administrator.Strong understanding of ITIL processes, ideally backed up by intermediate qualifications (ideally those associated with delivery of Service Operation / Operational Support).Experience of service improvement, with the ability to improve and implement any enhancements.The ability to identify and understand complex issues and interrelationships to draw sound conclusions.The desire to succeed and deliver in a challenging environment through both self and the team.The ability to anticipate events and actions and take the appropriate steps in advance to position the team to be able to deal with issues before they arise.Able to communicate effectively at all levels from junior team members to senior managers within the organization.Professional experience as IT Database Administrator.Professional experience in Automation, Programming and scripting knowledge (PowerShell, BCP, SSIS or any technology of choice).Excellent know-how in Oracle, Oracle forms, Oracle high availability conceptsInstallation, configuration and administrationHigh Availability Setup with Clustering, Mirroring, Availability GroupsMonitoring and performance tuningExperience with ETL process loadingCandidates with no practical experience in Oracle shall not apply.Good understanding of other database technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB).Good understanding of IT security best practices.About UsAt Global Blue, we firmly believe that enhancing the shopping experience drives performance.Our mission is to seamlessly connect shoppers and brands worldwide by simplifying the shopping experience and boosting retailer performance.
