The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. The mission of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Member States.
This position is located in the Office of the Director, Division of Human Resource Management.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The HR Planning and Coordination Associate is responsible for supporting HRM planning and coordination of cross cutting work products, inputs and reporting across respective HRM functions.
* Assist in the overall smooth functioning of the HRM Division by proactive planning and ensuring timely follow up on assigned HRM taskings and requests; provide first level review of inputs to promote high quality and consistency in cross cutting HRM deliverables;
* Facilitate collaboration and partnership with other COR functions, as well as other Directorates, by maintaining close liaison on cross cutting projects and activities;
* Coordinate and draft statements, talking points, briefing documents, background papers, presentations, project documentation and other material, as well as substantive analyses and summaries of reports requiring action by the Director, HRM;
* Prepare co-ordination meetings on behalf of Director, HRM, including ensuring participation and follow up; accompanying Director HRM in internal and external meetings as necessary;
* Gather HRM related information to support audit and other oversight activities, including responses to audit and other reports; promoting continuous improvement of HRM policies and procedures by tracking timely implementation of related management action plans;
* Support the HRM function in the development and use of HR analytics, including the use of dashboards on key HR metrics and mainstreaming the use of data in HR planning, delivery and reporting;
* Promote continuous improvement of HRM processes and procedures, including through identifying opportunities for enhanced use of existing and/or new technologies;
* As necessary, support the HR Assistant in the performance of their duties, including backstopping during periods of absence;
* Any other duties as required.
MINIMUM ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Education: Completed higher secondary education. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
* At minimum of ten (10) years of relevant working in human resources, administration, or a similar role is required.
* Experience in HR planning, talent management, workforce coordination, or similar functions is required.
* Experience in HR information systems (HRIS), such as PeopleSoft, SAP, or Oracle, for personnel data management and planning is required.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate and implement multiple HR-related projects and tasks within set deadlines.
* Ability to analyze HR trends and data (such as headcount reports, staffing patterns, or workforce gaps) to support decision-making and strategic workforce planning.
* Proven ability to anticipate and solve administrative and operational challenges in HR contexts.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse teams and across various levels of the organization.
* Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including hiring managers, HR partners, and regional offices.
* Experience working within UN systems or international organizations with a similar structure is a strong asset.
* Experience/proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), internet, is required.
Language Skills:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Fluency in or working knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
