Senior Director, Engagement and Collaborations, Aboriginal Service Development

We have responsibility for a wide range of human services functions in the ACT, including multicultural affairs, community services, older people, women, public and community housing, children, youth and family support services and policy, Child and Family Centres, homelessness, community engagement, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, and community disaster recovery.
The Senior Director, Engagement and Collaborations, Aboriginal Service Development is responsible for community engagement and supporting the Government to work with the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and the ACCO sector. The Senior Director will lead a team with demonstrated cultural awareness and utilise a partnership approach to work with the community. The overarching goal of the branch is to support the current, developing and emerging ACCO’s across the ACT region with expertise in providing high level strategic policy development, service design and the establishment and implementation of partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and sectors. The Senior Director brings engagement experience with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community, integrity, innovation, and exceptional relationship and influencing skills to implement the goals of the Branch across the community, government and the directorate. The Senior Director also demonstrates strong policy and analytical skills, exceptional communication and high levels of personal resilience.
Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
* Demonstrated experience leading teams and delivery of services to support positive outcomes for The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community is essential.
* Extensive program management experience at a senior level to achieve organisation outcomes is desirable.
* Background / Security clearance checks will be conducted.
* This position requires a Working with Vulnerable People Check. Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
* This is an Identified position in accordance with Section 27(4) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 and is only open to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander lived experience and cultural capability is considered essential and therefore confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage may be requested.
Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
