The Opportunity
The Operations Manager will be responsible for management of efficient everyday operations of branch operations including warehouse & counter sales functions. This role is key in ensuring clear and consistent communication between all staff within the branch as well as ensuring all compliance standards are maintained. The Operations Manager may also lead a small group of team leaders, mentoring and empowering them to be able to effectively manage the larger warehouse team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Coach, mentor and empower direct reports to ensure that they have the skills required to lead their teams.
* Provide weekly updates to Branch Manager relating to warehouse operations, including suggested areas of improvement and optimisation.
* Work closely with and support Branch Manager with implementation of changes and initiative within the branch.
* Ensure all company procedures, processes and policies are understood and adhered to always by all branch staff.
* Conduct a Risk Assessment quarterly as per company policy and procedure.
* Ensure all new employees are properly inducted into the workplace following company guidelines and procedure.
* Carry out regular staff toolbox meetings to discuss operational/procedural matters and to maintain a positive workplace environment.
* Ensure that stock takes are conducted in a timely manner and are completed on a weekly basis.
* Provide support to the Inventory team as required.
* Assist with additional responsibilities as required.
What you'll need to succeed:
* 3-4 years people management experience leading a team of 5+ direct reports in people management positions.
* Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* OH&S training.
* Experience in a senior Warehouse leadership or Operations role within a distribution environment.
* Ability to motivate and drive a positive and pro-active culture within the warehouse.
* Organised with a high level of attention to detail.
* Strong computer skills, confident with technology.
* Assertive and confident in dealing with all employee-related issues.
