Rural Merchandise Store Manager - Boonah
Farmcraft, South East Queensland's largest independently owned group of rural merchandise stores, has been operating since 1992. We employ over 60 staff across 5 branches strategically located across South East Queensland.
We cater for rural property owners growing a huge variety of crops or running livestock, as well as hobby farmers, home gardeners and pet owners.
We have a current opportunity for a Branch Manager to join our store team in Boonah in the Scenic Rim. The position would suit either an experienced Rural Merchandise Manager or someone experienced in both Retail and Agriculture as a manager.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the branch, ensuring a great customer service experience and strong customer relationships.
2. Managing a small team; providing leadership, direction and coaching to enhance performance of the team.
3. Maximising budgets and profitability through effective stock management and purchasing.
4. Execute and maintain all processes relating to stock integrity.
5. Business & stock planning.
6. Ensure the general merchandising, housekeeping and maintenance of the branch meets a high and safe standard.
7. Create and maintain excellent relationships between branches and with our business partners/suppliers.
8. Provide outstanding customer service via phone, email and in store.
9. Oversee and ensure safe branch practices.
Skills, Experience & Attributes:
1. Previous experience working in a similar role involving management and retail sales, ideally with a rural sales history.
2. Previous experience or strong understanding of budgeting and expense management with a basic understanding of financial practices.
3. Able to multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently.
4. Strong people skills; able to mentor and lead a young team.
5. Proven customer service and organisational skills.
6. Able to analyse problems and strategise for better solutions.
7. High attention to detail with ability to prioritise and execute tasks.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Knowledge or understanding of cropping, agricultural chemicals, animal health, stock feeds and fencing would be a distinct advantage.
10. Computer literate with intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
11. Self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
The following attributes are desirable but not essential:
1. Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture.
2. Forklift ticket (or an ability to obtain one).
The salary on offer will be commensurate with experience and will include a base salary, super, work vehicle and phone.
