The Finance and Procurement Services team develops and maintains financial policies and procedures and internal control to facilitate the conduct of university business and help ensure compliance with taxation and other financial legislative requirements.About the RoleWe have an exciting and unique opening within our Finance and Procurement team for a Procurement Category Manager. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the procurement and contracting of specified major commodity groups across the University, or for specific high-risk procurement projects. The role involves developing an in-depth understanding of the University stakeholder requirements including extensive consultation with user groups and leading cross functional teams to deliver exceptional procurement outcomes.Working in this impactful role will involve:Leading end to end procurement strategies and processes for your category, delivering exceptional service to your stakeholder group and assisting to deliver the broader commercial objectives of the UniversityManaging multiple projects within a challenging supplier market, while maintaining value and commercial outcomes for the universityBuilding robust relationships with stakeholders, ensuring engagement and a high level of business partnershipConducting commercial negotiations, developing sophisticated negotiation strategies and ensuring true partnership is achieved with your suppliersAnalysis of and reporting on supplier performance, risks and procurement activities to identify opportunities for improvementParticipation in the CIPS Awarded University Procurement Hub, involving national peer collaboration, established working groups and best practice roundtablesEnsuring the University achieves its ESG ambitions with respect to sustainability, Indigenous procurement, and modern slavery.About YouWe are looking for a skilled and personable procurement professional with:Experience in end to end sourcing/procurement within a medium to large, or complex organisation, or significant services procurement, and understanding of category management principlesExperience in the commercial negotiation and drafting of contracts and superior written skillsA continuous improvement mindset to allow strategic advancementsDemonstrated ability to achieve outcomes in a fast paced environment whilst ensuring respect for probity requirementsYou will be a community minded individual, able to work cohesively with your team while showing commitment to the University's values and underlying ethos of being Student-centredTertiary qualifications in procurement or other relevant commercial disciplines will be highly regardedLife at FlindersWe're transforming and investing in people and facilities to create contemporary, stimulating, and satisfying learning and work environments that reflect our core values of excellence, innovation, courage, and integrity.
