Organizational Setting
The Director General's Office (DGO) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States' needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management.
Main Purpose
The Consultant will work under the supervision of the Agency-wide Focal Point for Risk Management Focal Point to achieve the following objectives:
1. Strengthen staff understanding of risk management principles by demonstrating their practical benefits through success stories, case studies, and concrete examples.
2. Provide actionable guidance and hands-on support to embed risk management into operational processes.
3. Build trust and buy-in among staff with limited exposure to risk management by clearly articulating its merits and showcasing tangible results.
Functions / Key Results Expected
1. Training and Capacity Building:
o Develop a tailored and targeted outreach and capacity building plan.
o Design and deliver in-house training sessions and workshops on risk management.
o Develop hands-on training materials, including presentations, handouts, and case studies based on the Agency's operations/business models, to meet organizational needs.
o Facilitate discussions and promote a culture of risk awareness among staff at all levels.
2. Advisory Support:
o Develop practical guidance on integrating risk management practices into relevant processes and workstreams.
o Provide expert advice on the maturity level of risk management practices across the Agency based on assessments conducted at defined intervals.
o Provide expert advice and create templates on the preparation of risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
o Design a structured approach for embedding risk management principles into strategic planning and operational decision-making processes.
3. Coordination and Collaboration:
o Collaborate with various departments to identify and address corporate risks and controls.
o Facilitate cross-departmental discussions on risk management issues.
4. Capacity building of Risk Management expertise:
o Provide technical expertise to the ongoing development of technical skills of the Agency-wide Focal Point for Risk Management and the Departmental Focal Points for Risk Management.
o Contribute to progressively empower the Agency-wide Focal Point for Risk Management in the interactions with key stakeholders through sharing of technical knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience
* Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Risk Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field.
* Minimum five years of practical experience in risk management, preferably within UN organizations, other inter-governmental organizations, or large public-sector international institutions.
* Demonstrated ability to apply risk management concepts to real-world challenges and opportunities, including examples of successful outcomes.
* Proven ability to build buy-in and trust among diverse stakeholders through clear communication and relatable examples.
* Experience designing and delivering practical, relatable training programmes or capacity-building activities.
* Familiarity with risk management standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000, COSO ERM) and their application in organizational settings.
* Proficiency in risk management tools and software.
* Knowledge of UN systems, policies, and procedures is highly desirable.
* Good oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
Remuneration
The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 380, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
