We are looking for an experienced Transportation and Fleet Manager to lead our fleet operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficiency while fostering a high-performing team environment. This role is responsible for managing a fleet of prime movers, rigid trucks, dollies, and tankers within the Fuel Industry. The ideal candidate will lead a transport team consisting of schedulers, compliance, driver training, and drivers.
What you'll be doing:
The role of the Transport/Fleet Manager is crucial to the company, collaborating closely with other senior management team members and reporting directly to the General Manager. This position serves as the primary contact for fuel supply management and oversees the design of the fleet, equipment acquisition and disposal, regulatory compliance, driver management, equipment availability, and scheduling. The Manager’s main responsibilities are to ensure that customer orders are delivered safely on time, and in a cost-effective manner.

1. Fleet and transport management

3. Driver training and safety
4. Collaboration with the workshop
5. Operational efficiencies
6. Regulatory Compliance
7. General safety and risk management
What you'll need:
The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of fuel transport, trucks, trailers, transport equipment in general, and a good mechanical knowledge overall. Experience in areas such as dangerous goods products and product control in the event of an accident will also be essential. These and other urgent operational issues will require an element of availability after hours and on-call. Some of the qualifications and experience required to be a success in the role will include:
1. Experience within the fuel industry, preferably with delivery experience.
2. Proven experience (8+ years) in managing transportation operations.
3. Strong knowledge of fleet management and vehicle maintenance.
4. Leadership experience managing a team of schedulers and drivers.
5. Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
6. Knowledge of compliance requirements for the transportation of hazardous materials.
7. Familiarity with scheduling software and fleet management systems.
8. Knowledge of driver safety regulations and best practices in driver training.
